Motorhome Electrics

Review by the CMCA Wanderer magazine

Well, Collyn Rivers has done it again. Collyn's eagerly awaited, definitive book on Motorhome Electrics has finally gone to print and is now available from National Headquarters.

Members who joined the Club prior to October 1997 may remember the immensely popular four part series titled Motorhome Electrics which appeared in the October, November 1997 and January, February 1998 editions of The Wanderer. The text for those articles formed part of the embryo book that Collyn was writing.

I had the honour of assisting with the technical proof reading of the book and was most impressed with detail and accuracy of content. Collyn must be, without doubt, the foremost authority in Australia on the topic.

Collyn was a research engineer with General Motors Research Division, specialising in monitoring and measuring various aspects of vehicle behaviour and performance, particularly in off road usage. In the 1960's he ran his own business designing and building everything from nuclear scanners to 500 tonne concrete testers before switching careers in 1970 to found the now worldwide Electronics Today International magazine (which, in 1976, was awarded the title Best Electronics Magazine in the World), and 20 other books and magazines include Australian Communications, Business Computing, CB Australia, HiFi Review, Sonics and Quasar and other publications in electronics, computing, telecommunications and music.

From 1982 to 1990, Collyn was technology editor of The Bulletin and Australian Business. During this time he also founded the periodical Australian Communications and wrote the Federal Government's Guide to Information Technology. If you need to know anything about motorhome electrics, then this is the book for you. Collyn has written it in a way that is easy for the layman to understand without the technical detail often sought by tradesmen.

An absolute must!
